Children’s voices-squealing, laughing, talking.

Summer is for children-one lazy day drifting blissfully into the next. No planned agenda, no endless to-do lists, no places to be, no expectations. Just be. Take life as it comes.

Enjoy the little things, from the ice cream truck, to running through sprinklers, to playing in the park. An enthusiasm for the day and what lies ahead. From finding delight in a roly poly, to the pair of flip flops discarded under the table in the haste to run and play.

My own children are growing up too fast. All too soon the shrieks of joy and the belly laughter, and yes even the screams of frustration and anger will be gone from the house.

The blissful summer days and simple joys of childhood won’t last forever.

The Marathon

So last night was the funnest night ever! It was day 1 of the Harry Potter marathon. I took my 9 year old. He's never seen Harry Potter on the big screen. As the house lights dimmed, everyone began to cheer. Zach looked at me and said, "This is sooo cool, Mom!"
We have a tradition in our family that the kids can't see the movies until they read the books because, in our humble opinion, the books are immensely better. We often have great discussions on the differences between the books and the movies.
Last night however, the movie was king. I must admit though, that I spent most of the night not watching Harry Potter, but instead watching the delight on Zach's face.
Even though I am dragging today, I know this will be a memory I will treasure...
